Prince Charles agrees that Cornish Pork Pie is 'downright delicious'

Downright Delicious, a regular stallholder at Heartlands' Farmers' Market, was very pleased to welcome HRH The Prince of Wales during his visit to Heartlands in Pool on Monday 2 July 2012. The Duke of Cornwall showed a great interest in Cornish locally-produced food and stopped to chat for a little while with head chef and owner Richard Musgrave, despite the wet weather.

After having a good 'sniff' of a Downright Delicious handmade pork pie, His Royal Highness asked if he could buy a piece to take away, and we were delighted to offer  a complimentary slice. Feedback from customers later on confirmed that the Duke of Cornwall had continued to recommend our pies to other shoppers at the Farmers' Market.

Richard Musgrave said:

“I was quite nervous about speaking to The Prince of Wales on his tour around the market, but he was really friendly and very interested in the local ingredient of my pies.  I was honoured when he asked if he could buy a piece and very happy to offer him a slice free of charge.”

Downright Delicious has been trading since early 2011 and has a firm regular customer base. Not only can you sample our delicious food, including the pork pie, at various farmers markets and events around Cornwall, but Downright Delicious also supply catering for business functions, parties, weddings, BBQ's and fine dining in your own home. We are also pleased to announce that some of our products are now available at English Heritage’s Pendennis Castle Tea Rooms in Falmouth.
