A feast of Cornish musicians, singers and dancers to set 2017 off on the right note!

Start your New Year off in proper Cornish style with Degol Stul, a Cornish Twelfth Night celebration of Nos Lowen music and dance on Saturday 7th January 2017 at Heartlands, Pool. Expect a feast of music with voices raised in song, dancing feet and all manner of instruments including fiddles, violas, whistles, guitars clarinets and drums. 

Degol Stul starts in the Red River Café at 12.30 with a lunchtime music jam session, open to all. From 2.00pm workshops start with Cornish Singing led by Pip Wright of Kana Kernow, and Sounds of the Earth combining percussion & geology led by Tracey Worrall. At 3.15 you can try a Session for Starters with Frances Bennett of Bagas Crowd and Hilary Coleman of Dalla. Or put your best foot forward in a Nos Lowen dance workshop with led by Karen Brown from 2nd Wave Dance Arts supported by Ian Bruce & Jaz Hicks of Howl ha Loer.

A gathering between 4.30 and 5.00 pm invites workshop participants to share a tune and a dance and a song together, followed by a Tea Time Concert. Cornish music and song groups Crowd, The Red River Singers & The Cornish Nightingale, The Baguettes, The An Gof Band and Bagas Crowd will entertain you while you enjoy Red River Café refreshments. The evening event starts with a parade led by the Raffidy Dumitz  band from Penzance  at 7.30pm, leading everyone to the Chy an Bobel for the Nos Lowen. The line-up features Henavek, Heb Mar, The Hornets, Skillywidden, Salt & Sky, and DJ Ar Menez and is guaranteed to provide dance music to set your toes tapping.

 £12 for an all day ticket, £10 for the Nos Lowen, and just £4 for 1 or 2 workshops, Entry by donation to the Tea Time Concert.
