Learn Heartlands
A trip to Heartlands will be a journey of discovery for every visitor.
Heartlands will be a landmark destination within the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape World Heritage Site.
The development centres around the Grade II listed Robinson's Shaft mine complex, which will be restored as a vibrant example of Cornish ingenuity, past, present and future. The complex will house an innovation and exhibition centre with artefacts and interactive resources telling the story of Cornish mining.
Heartlands will be a rich sensory environment providing a variety of opportunities to experience and learn from Cornwall's cultural and natural heritage.
Innovative tactile, visual and audio information systems, together with thought-provoking art installations, will be dotted throughout the development to enrich understanding and appreciation of the local landscape, wildlife, culture and heritage.
In collaboration with local schools and colleges, Heartlands will offer a wide range of hands-on learning activities focused around the key themes of Cornwall's mining heritage and culture, and sustainable innovation. These will range from outdoor seminars and events days to craft workshops and gardening projects.
In addition, the Heartlands website will provide detailed case studies and learning resources for students wishing to learn more about the project’s development.
