COSTUME RULES
Listen up, agents. We have intel that our targets are gathering at a high-profile event. We need to blend in and not raise suspicion. Whether you’ve crafted your disguise from scratch or added your own personal touch to a pre-made costume, we want to see your skills in action. But remember, we can’t compromise the mission by attracting unwanted attention. So, stick to the guidelines we’ve provided and prioritize the comfort and safety of everyone involved. Failure to comply is not an option:
- Prior permission is required before taking a photograph of a cosplayer.
- Inappropriate behavior with props, regardless of ownership, will result in immediate dismissal from the event.
- Offensive or controversial cosplays will not be allowed inside the event.
- Realistic props must be covered and stored away when traveling to and from the venue or outside to avoid alarming the public and attracting the police’s attention.
- Costumes that fail the ‘social media’ test by being offensive to the general public are not permitted.
- Nudity is strictly prohibited, and costumes must be at least as large as standard swimwear.
- Participants must be able to move through a standard-sized door unaided.
- Costumes over 6ft 5in or wider than 6ft require an experienced spotter at all times.
- Tails and trains are allowed, but caution must be taken to avoid becoming a trip or slip hazard.
- Hard, sharp, or pointy costume parts are prohibited.
The following props ARE NOT allowed
- Firearms
- Realistic Replica Firearms
- Props or weapons with sharp edges
- Bokken
- Functional bows or crossbows
- Darts
- Slingshots
- Unsecured whips
- Pyrotechnics (including glitter and smoke bombs)
- Sharp Arrows
The following props are allowed
- Non-realistic weapons
- Replica firearms with a red/orange tip
- The tip must be clear and visible from a distance
- Blunt metal weapons in a sheath
- Unstrung or loosely strung bow
- Coiled and secured whips
- Plastic / wood / LARP weapons
- Tools
- Props longer than 6ft accompanied by an experienced spotter
We have strict protocols in place for props at Geekfest. Before entering the venue, all props will undergo inspection. Any items that don’t meet the rules outlined above will be denied entry. We repeat, no banned props will be stored by the staff. Be prepared to surrender any non-compliant gear.
